2013 Top Simulation Training Company Award
Aptima Named to Military Training Technology’s “Top Simulation and Training Companies” for 8th Consecutive Year
Woburn, MA, September 16, 2013 – Aptima, a leader in simulation, performance measurement, and training products designed for the quantified warrior, has been selected by Military Training Technology Magazine’s (MT2) for its annual list of “Top Simulation and Training Companies.”
Aptima’s mission is to engineer tools and systems that increase human capabilities. The company was recognized in part for its launch of SPOTLITE™ Infantry. Part of the company’s line of SPOTLITE™ performance measurement mobile apps, SPOTLITE Infantry allows instructors to rapidly collect, analyze, and visualize human performance data for immediate debrief and trend analysis in live field training exercises. SPOTLITE Infantry runs on Android-based tablets and smartphones, giving observers an all-in-one, hand-held tool for easily and precisely measuring individuals and teams during live and simulated training exercises. Marrying robust performance measurement software with the intuitive interface of touch screen devices, instructors can uninterruptedly rate, video, and tag trainee performance in real-time, then with single-button control, deliver thorough feedback and rich, media-driven after-action reviews.
Using SPOTLITE Infantry is as simple as thumb-tapping preconfigured menu buttons. Holding a tablet like a game controller, the observer can rate key performance variables, shoot photo or video, and make annotations, all while staying focused on the scenario, without juggling tasks or looking down to take notes. The interface and controls are designed around the unique requirements of the training environment. Observers can quickly respond to distinct scenarios, such as a simulated IED attack, by selecting an event from a list. Standardized assessment criteria for the live exercise events then populate the navigation panel for rating by the observer. Should performance or training conditions fall outside of specified ranges, SPOTLITE Infantry can cue the user to collect additional data. Finally, after the exercise, after action review screens let the observer examine the aggregated assessments and provide specific, immediate performance feedback to trainees, driving learning and increasing overall training effectiveness.
