User Experience/Human Factors Engineer

We are seeking a UX Designer/Human Factors Engineer to join us in our Boston, DC, or Dayton office. You will be a key member of an interdisciplinary research and development team tackling real-world design challenges in a variety of commercial and military domains (e.g., healthcare, training, cyber security, intelligence analysis, team decision-making, performance measurement).

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S. in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Computer Science, Cognitive Science, Interaction Design, or a related field with at least three years of professional HF/UX experience (M.S. degree with relevant experience strongly preferred)
  • Portfolio demonstrating previous user experience design projects, particularly for web applications and/or mobile devices
  • Proficient in human-centered design and engineering approaches
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement user interfaces at all stages of development:
    • Understand and translate complex problems into intuitive solutions
    • Define requirements through knowledge elicitation sessions with Subject Matter Experts and users
    • Define and create designs that leverage best practices
    • Develop design guidelines and specifications
    • Construct wireframes, storyboards, and user interface mockups at various levels of fidelity
    • Interpret, incorporate, and present results from user testing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The ideal candidate will also be:

  • Knowledgeable about latest UI trends and standards for iOS, Android, and HTML5
  • Experienced with prototyping tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Omnigraffle, Balsamiq
  • Well-versed in common software development and project management practices
  • Experienced presenting to and interfacing with customers
  • Knowledgeable about requirements analysis processes and design methodologies, including their relative merits and tradeoffs
  • Able to work effectively in a dynamic environment within cross-functional teams
  • Experienced with rapid prototyping
  • Passionate about big data visualization
