Aptima Promotes Matt Puglisi, Michael J. Garrity, Kevin Sullivan, Jeanine Ayers, Jason Sidman and Matt Roberts

Company’s policy of ‘promotion from within’ recognizes technical expertise, professional accomplishment, and corporate knowledge

Woburn, MA, April 22, 2013 – Aptima, Inc., the leading human-centered R&D company that applies expertise in the disciplines of how humans think, learn, and behave to solve challenges faced by the U.S. Department of Defense, announced today the promotion of the following members of its staff.

Matt Puglisi, Executive Vice President, Business Strategy

Matt Puglisi most recently served as Aptima’s Senior Vice President, Business Development. In his new position, Mr. Puglisi is responsible for developing, refining, and executing Aptima’s corporate strategy, and improving and executing Aptima’s business development process.  Mr. Puglisi will continue to perform technical work related to training and performance assessment, in particular with the U.S. Marines. Mr. Puglisi served in the Marine Corps, and has expertise in military and health care policy, and the health effects of military service.

Dr. Michael J. Garrity, Vice President, Programs

Michael J. Garrity, Ph.D. was most recently the Senior Director of Aptima’s Human Performance Division. He has more than a decade of experience developing and applying training and assessment methods and technologies in support of US and NATO organizations. In his new role, Dr. Garrity is responsible for securing transition opportunities for Aptima’s research and development portfolio.

Kevin Sullivan, Vice President, Operations

Kevin Sullivan has extensive experience in technology development, technology organization management, software engineering, and software project management. Mr. Sullivan was most recently Senior Director of Aptima’s Software Engineering Division. Mr. Sullivan has over 30 years of experience of successfully bringing software products to market in computer-aided design (CAD), artificial intelligence, manufacturing, and financial customer relationship management (CRM) sectors. In his role as Vice President, Operations, Mr. Sullivan’s responsibilities include defining and executing Aptima’s project management and quality assurance processes, and advising Executive Management regarding software strategy in support of the company’s core capabilities.

Jeanine Ayers, Director, Technology Strategy

Jeanine Ayers has extensive experience integrating Aptima technology with High Level Architecture (HLA) and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) simulators in Department of Defense environments, including the Army, Navy, and Air Force. She has also lead successful development efforts in multi-agent systems, multi-robot collaboration, mobile applications, and information management systems. She served most recently Associate Director of Aptima’s Software Engineering Division. As Director of Technology Strategy, Ms. Ayers is responsible for evaluating future market trends and customer needs, and working with Aptima’s leaders to align the company’s technology development with those demands.

Dr. Jason Sidman, Director, Advanced Cognitive Training Systems Division

Jason Sidman focuses on training cognitive skills through a principled mapping to training environments that best exercise those skills in the context of a sound instructional design. He considers a range of techniques, ranging from interactive multimedia instruction, to a variety of both computer and non-computer based gaming solutions. Dr. Sidman served most recently as Associate Director of Aptima’s Cognitive Systems Engineering ACTS Division. ACTS’ mission is to train 21st Century skills by developing adaptive systems that focus both on contextualized situations such as small unit decision making and leader development, as well as on the high-level executive functioning skills that improve cognitive performance more broadly.

Matthew Roberts, Director, Product Engineering Division

Matthew Roberts has a broad array of software development expertise. His experience ranges from creating database driven web services and applications to developing file system filter drivers and multi process anti-hack software. His current work includes developing services to migrate and synchronize data across databases of varying platforms and as well as developing UI prototypes. Mr. Roberts served most recently as a Team Lead in Aptima’s Software Engineering Division. As the Director of Aptima’s Product Engineering Division, Mr. Roberts is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Division and oversees the development of Aptima’s SPOTLITE™, PM Engine™, and LaVA™ products, user interaction, software engineering, and the development of emerging products.
