Tim leads Aptima, Inc.’s Interaction and Collaboration Analytics capability, a portfolio of research projects focused on measuring and optimizing the content of communication and collaboration between human-AI teams. He specializes in formulating, designing, and implementing technology solutions that allow users to leverage the contextual characteristics of their operational environment to make informed and actionable decisions. He has significant experience planning and directing successful research and development (R&D) efforts for US Government agencies, spanning domains including medical and health informatics, content distribution in austere communications environments, and geospatial information and visualization systems. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), which allows him to lead R&D projects with a security perspective that increases the likelihood of transition of secure, robust applications to customers and stakeholders. He has served as a conference track chair and program reviewer for the International Association on Information Systems for Crisis Response and Management (ISCRAM) and Association for Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) conferences and symposia on humanitarian assistance informatics.
Tim holds a MA in Geography from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a BA in Geography from the University of Colorado at Denver. He is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
