SPOTLITE™

Collect observer-based measures

Aptima's SPOTLITE – Scenario-based Performance Observation Tool for Learning in Team Environments – is a hand-held data collection device for real-time assessment of team and individual performance in live and simulated environments. Evaluators are able to access, analyze, and present performance data in debrief meetings immediately following the exercise.

Context-relevant measure cueing

A▪Measure’s measurement cueing capability allows a user to define criteria, such as ratings in the PM Engine, to cue the SPOTLITE user to collect additional data, directing those measure cues to occur in real-time as the training exercise unfolds. For example, if the PM Engine receives a certain measure result, it might cue the SPOTLITE observer-instructor to collect a set of pre-defined measures by automatically adding them to the SPOTLITE measurement tree and notifying the user of their addition.

SPOTLITE is now in operational use at the Air Force’s Distributed Mission Operations training facility in Mesa, Arizona, and across the cadre of IED Defeat Mobile Training Teams (20 teams distributed across the U.S.) under the Marine Corps Engineer Center’s Explosive Obstacles and Hazards Branch. It has been used at a number of Air Operations Center exercises, including Virtual Flag exercises at Nellis Air Force Base, and Air and Space Operations Center Training Research Exercise (AOC T-REX) events held at the Air Force Research Laboratory in Mesa, as well as during intelligence analyst capstone training at Goodfellow AFL.
