Interaction Design and Usability Evaluations for Web-based Research Services Company
The Problem
A leading provider of web-based research services was offering a wide array of products to international users for accessing legal and public records, news, and business information. Decision-makers in customer companies relied upon this information on a daily basis to make critical business decisions. The challenge was to provide quick and easy access to clear information, so they could make correct decisions with confidence and in a timely manner.
The Solution
Aptima, as a preferred provider, supported the customer’s product design teams by acting as Interaction Design specialists, helping to ensure that products met end-user needs and expectations. Aptima provided a wide array of Interaction Design services and related expertise to the company’s product teams. These activities included:
- Defining product requirements based on end-user needs and expectations.
- Defining user profiles of the end-users to inform interface design.
- Creating low fidelity and high fidelity mockups of the interface designs.
- Producing UI Specification Documentation outlining the workflow and user interactions with the UI.
In addition to helping with product design, Aptima also assisted with analyzing and fine-tuning designs for product release. Aptima’s Usability Evaluations consisted of observing actual end-users performing tasks with the interface and identifying potential stumbling points before the product was released, helping to ensure that the final interface enhanced the end users’ decision-making abilities.
The Results
Aptima’s Interaction Design and Usability services have helped the customer consistently deliver interfaces that met users’ needs and expectations, were easy to use, and presented information in a manner that is easy to understand. With Aptima’s help, the company ensures that its products provide the confidence and accuracy that users around the world need to make critical decisions.
